Current Issue
- The violence taking place against LGBT individuals in the Middle East is a major controversy. Here in the U.S LGBT individuals experience very minimal discrimination compared to what is going on in the Middle East. These people are not only getting denied the right to legally marry, or possibly get made fun of on the streets, or possibly not get a job due to their sexual identity, they are getting murdered due to their sexual identity. Their human rights are being violated to a great extent as every human person deserves the right to live. and to live their own life without having to be scared of disclosing their sexual identity in fear of being executed. This issue must be addressed immediately, not only by the people that live in the Middle East countries, but by the entire world to be able to put an end to this tragedy.
sociological perspective
- Looking at this crisis through a sociological stand point it is clear that it is a problem associated with the conflict theory. The homosexual class is trying to stir social change to a region and religion that has been present for so long. The times are changing in the world and homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and it is the nature of society to have social change that is taking place in the Middle East currently. It seems that the Middle East countries officials have more of a functional perspective on this situation because they believe in the status quo and that it should not be challenged or changed from what it has been for the past thousands of years in the region.
